| Shout out to all who wasted $10.50 last night to watch the worst movie of all time!!
I don't think I've ever looked at my watch so many times before in a movie. Seriously, go spend your time doing something useful like beating your
head against a wall and avoid this catastrophic flop of a movie.

| Spurgeon was pro-exercise as well - get out and do something
today, it will serve your joy and satisfaction in God:
“Sedentary habits have a tendency to create despondency. To
sit alone in one posture pouring over a book or driving a quill (he lived 150
years ago), is in itself a taxing of nature. But add to this a badly ventilated
chamber, a body that has long been without exercise, a heart burdened with many
cares and we have all the elements of creating a seething cauldron of despair,
especially in the months of fog. He who forgets the humming of the bees among
the heather, the cooing of the wood pigeons in the forests, the songbirds in
the forest, the rippling of rills among the rushes the sighing of the wind
among the pines - needs not wonder if his heart forgets to sing and his soul
grows heavy.
A days breathing of fresh air upon the hills or a few hours
ramble in the beech woods’ calm would sweep the cobwebs of our brains away and
the toiling ministers that are but half alive would have life. A mouthful of
sea air or a stiff walk in the wind’s face would not give grace to the soul,
but it would yield oxygen to the body, which is the next best thing. The firs,
the rabbits, the streams, the trouts, the fir trees, the squirrels, the
primroses, the violets, the farmyard, the new mown hay, the fragrant hops –
these are the best medicine for hypochondriacs, the surest tonics for the
declining, the best refreshments for the weary, for lack of opportunity or
inclination, these great remedies are neglected and the student becomes a
self-immolated victim.”
C.H. Spurgeon, from
Piper’s message “How to Fight for Joy”

| From my QT the other day, hope it encourages you...

"You make known to me the paths of life; In YOUR presence there is fullness of joy; at YOUR right hand are pleasures forevermore." Psalm 16:11
David is speaking of the truth of where we, as believers, find our deepest joy. "In YOUR presence", O God, there is fullness of joy! I think David is inherently acknowledging joy/pleasure can be found in other things. Whether it is having a great job or making money or enjoying the things of this world...or being a success in the eyes of men. But David is also inherently stating that the joy found in these things is not the FULLNESS of joy that God offers us in His presence.
Why do I run after things that will not satisfy? Why do I seek after that which will only leave me disappointed? Why does my heart so desire to indulge in the simple pleasures of this world when God offers me unspeakable joy and satisfaction in Him??
Lord, remind me every day when my heart seeks satisfaction in things other than YOU, that fullness of joy is found in your presence alone... remind me that at your right hand are pleasures forevermore... and cause me to flee to your presence each and every day.
"The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places" O God!! Lord, what a beautiful inheritance I have in you. Satisfy me each morning with your steadfast love, yet let my heart yearn ever more for you.
GOD, with every taste of your character and love, let my heart yearn and long for more!
Amen.

| Psalm 90
“Lord...You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from EVERLASTING to EVERLASTING you are God.
You return man to dust and say “Return, O children of man!”
For a THOUSAND years in your sight are BUT AS YESTERDAY when it is past or as a watch in the night. You sweep them away as with a flood: they are like a dream, like grass that is renewed in the morning; in the morning it flourishes and is renewed; in the evening it fades and withers.
For we are brought to an end by your anger; by your wrath we are dismayed. You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.
For all our days pass away under your wrath; we bring our years to an end like a sigh. The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble: they are soon gone, and we fly away.
Who considers the power of your anger and your wrath according to the fear of you?
SO, TEACH US TO NUMBER OUR DAYS THAT WE MAY GAIN A HEART OF WISDOM.
Return, O Lord! How long? Have pity on your servants!
SATISFY US IN THE MORNING with your steadfast love, that we may REJOICE and BE GLAD ALL our days.
Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, and for as many years as we have seen evil.
Let your work be shown to your servants, and your glorious power to their children. Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!”
Happy New Year’s, everyone!!
